KMWV’S Vision:

KMWV envisions an actively-engaged, informed community that values democracy, diversity, justice, education and the arts.

KMWV’s Values:

Democracy & the Media

All people in a democracy have the right and responsibility to take part in the decisions that affect them and their communities. KMWV provides the community with the opportunity for political, cultural, artistic, spiritual, and individual expression on radio.

Emergency Information and Effective Response

CC:Media, including KMWV, is a Joint Information Center for the distribution of emergency information for the City of Salem and Marion County. Radio is a vital communications medium when communications land lines are damaged and electrical service is lost. Radio creates well-informed communities able to manage crises and challenges in a more effective manner. KMWV will connect local governments with their constituents, enabling them to provide timely information.

Community Engagement

Information alone is not enough to ensure a healthy democracy. Citizens must also enter into active discussion and debate in order to participate in solving problems for the common good. Through KMWV, CC:Media promotes the use of non-commercial radio for discussing issues and solving problems.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusiveness

Democracy is most effective in a society that is just, equitable and inclusive. CC:Media celebrates our diverse community and works to achieve an environment reflective of our community, one that recognizes and celebrates our similarities and differences that may include race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, level of ability, age, religious commitment or political perspective. By time-sharing FM channel 98.3 with radio partner Mano a Mano’s KTUP Spanish language station, the radio partners serve virtually the entire service area.

Access to Information

A well-informed, actively-involved society makes more responsible decisions. KMWV promotes transparency by providing reliable, timely local information to inform and enable an active dialogue in our community. KMWV expands the reach of CC:Media to a population base greater than 800,000, reaching people who commute to Salem for their jobs, shopping or pleasure, and reaching employers who hire Salem residents.
