Congressional District 6 Information

Oregon's 6th Congressional District was created by the 2020 United States census that will elect a member of the United States House of Representatives beginning with the 2022 elections, with 16 candidates entered for the race as of March 2022, more than other seat in the state.

Redistricting is a complex, sometimes contentious process in redrawing congressional boundaries in a state to create a new congressional district. Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess explains the process, and tells the remarkable story behind Oregon's new 6th Congressional District.

For the first time in Oregon's history there are now more registered voters with mo party affiliation than there are Democrats and Republicans, and barred from voting in the May 17 partisan primary. Oregon's Motor Voter Law is key to this change. InSight guest Bill Burgess, Marion County Clerk.
